RoofDeck2.jpg

Welcome! It is with great pleasure that we will be open again for the 2024 Summer Season. We look forward to a great summer and to all the guests that we have yet to meet.

There are still rooms available from 8/17/24 - 9/4/24.

The house is also available as a whole house rental through Airbnb. There are still dates available to rent the whole house in April, May, June, September, October, & November.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us with reservation requests or questions!

See the room and house information below.

Built in 1849, Pres du Port has been in our family for over 50 years.  Aunt Charlotte ran the house as a Bed and Breakfast for over two decades and now that we have renovated and refreshed all the rooms, we are excited to continue the tradition.

Perched above the harbor within Stonington village, each room is unique and the views are breathtaking.  Breakfast is served in the enclosed porch with full picture windows that overlook the harbor. There is also a roof deck atop the porch that is available to all guests. Walk to everything in town or watch the lobster boats and schooners from a rocking chair on the porch. Come and enjoy the timeless charm of a Maine island community in our family vacation home.

The Pres du Port is an endlessly charming home built in 1849 by Benjamin Barbour. There are 6 bedrooms and 8 beds. The home functions as a B&B for a portion of the summer and our vacation home for a portion of the summer. The full kitchen has been re-done with butcher block table and countertops, new appliances and cookware. There is a full roof deck overlooking the harbor on top of the enclosed porch.

On the ground floor, in addition to the kitchen, there is a full bathroom, pantry, laundry room, dining room, living room with fireplace, office space, small bedroom (double bed), and enclosed porch with bay windows overlooking the harbor.

On the second floor there are 5 more bedrooms and 3 full baths. When operating as a B&B all the bedrooms have names which are printed on the doors.

Bedroom 1, Beau Ciel, is a spacious room with both harbor and sunset views, Beau Ciel has a king sized bed and private en suite bath. This room has been completely renovated this spring. Come and gaze at the sea and sky in this corner room.

Bedroom 2, Beau Sejour, is a suite style room with a private entrance, kitchenette and en suite bath, Beau Sejour has a queen sized bed and a sleeping loft with two twin beds. This room is an addition to the original house, it doesn’t have the breathtaking water views but it is great for families.

Bedroom 3, Beau Rivage, is a room with commanding harbor views and an entrance to the deck, Beau Rivage has a plush queen sized bed and an in room sink.

Bedroom 4, Beaujolais, is a smaller room with a double bed. The decor, sloped ceiling, and sunset views through the window make this room one of the most charming in the house.

Bedroom 5, Beau Pres, is also a smaller room with a full bed but also has a quaint cute charm with local scenes painted on the walls.

Bedroom 6, Hublots, was mentioned earlier as it is on the first floor for those that may have trouble with stairs. It is right off the kitchen. Full bed, very small, with little porthole windows taken from an actual boat when being built.

The house overlooks the harbor and is a 4 min walk to the center of Stonington. With several restaurants from the homestyle good food of Harbor Cafe & Stonecutters to the fine dining of Arigosta and Acadia House Provisions, Stonington also has many shops and art galleries. If you like forthright practical people, bracing ocean breezes, superb reasonably priced lobster, a slower pace, antique hunting, hiking and biking hilly country and photographing windjammers—and can do without swimming pools, nightly entertainment, fancy bars and restaurants—Stonington may be just the place for you this summer.

More than the landscape, it is the people who have brought our family back for seven summers to this tiny lobstering village on an island off the coast of Maine…

… we discovered Stonington on Deer Isle and fell in love with it. We`ve been going back ever since. Stonington is a town with few restaurants and no hotels, but with fine bed and breakfast inns, our favorite being Pres du Port.

Wholesome breakfast

Each morning we will be serving up a breakfast feast.  When available, food will be locally sourced, fresh and organic.  In addition to at least one hot item of egg casserole, crepes, waffles, omelets or pancakes, there will a variety of fresh fruits, breads, muffins, granola, cereal and yogurt.  And of course, locally roasted, hot coffee via French-press or pour-over and a variety of herbal, black, and green teas will be served. We are happy to accommodate food restrictions or requests made in advance.

The Innkeepers

Pres du Port is a special place.   We are excited that our old special friends, Matt and Kerry, will reopen the B & B and host new guests again this year.  Matt and Kerry fell in love with the house and the island more than a decade ago.  Matt is a carpenter and over the winter of 2019 he and Kerry renovated and re-envisioned the house. For years in their home in Massachusetts, Matt, Kerry and their two children have hosted touring cyclists but last year was their first season as B & B Innkeepers.  They love sharing this beautiful island and having the experience of traveling without actually going anywhere.
